The Last Birthday in the Mission! (October 23, 2021)

Happy 21st Birthday 🎂🎈🎁 Elder Baird, my good grandson Caden!  So great to hear from you. 🌟

So you and Pres Dixon share the same birthday, just 29 years apart?  😊

It is terrific how Mission Presidents are now instructed to help their missionaries begin to plan for transition into their post mission lives.  You have discovered a huge key to moving forward - staying close to Heavenly Father as choices and opportunities present themselves.

I was majoring in English and Music until I made a C+ in my Shakespeare summer class at the end of my Sophomore year at BYU. It really shook me.
Then my brother Brad broke his leg in the first Provo High football game just before my junior year was to begin. We followed the ambulance to the hospital, and for three days I visited him there. He had a BYU student nurse who took care of him, and she made all the difference in helping him go from depression to a positive outlook. And I said, that’s what I want to do - I want to be a nurse and help people.

I switched my major, took 21 hours of sciences that semester to get into the nursing program the second semester of my junior year, and the knowledge of Nursing has been a way to help many people, even though I only worked as a Nurse at Utah Valley Hospital for 1 year. The Lord called me as a Nurse to the missionaries in the Marshall Islands 🇲🇭 many years later.

With the Lord’s help you will write a great story and do so much good, Caden.

Grandpa and I love you so much, and will continue to pray for you ♥️🙏

The time just keeps flying by! It's already my birthday. It feels like last month I was turning twenty in New York, quarantined in Brooklyn with my trainee. I´ve been completing a course called My Plan which is made for returning missionaries to help them plan for the future. Part of it is my vision for the next year. I wrote that I think that this next year will be one of if not the most influential year of my life. I´ll study, choose a career, heck I might even get married! It's when I think of all the possibilities of this next year, that I realize the importance of a foundation on truth. What do I want to do? Not so important. What does HE want me to do, accomplish, be? That is where my vision is. I´ll go into more depth in my weekly email, (hopefully it gets done this time), but I wanted to let you know that I sure as heck am going to keep moving forward, we shall see what's in store.

Hola, my good grandson!!

With two months left in your mission I am sure your pace is accelerating!  That’s just who you are. 😄
It is exciting to see how the Lord prepared you to go back to Peru with skills and testimony to make such a difference for so many missionaries there. Would love to hear more, maybe in an email 📧

Life is good and as Macey says, God is good. How I love our Father and His Son.

I learned in doctrine and Covenants 95:12 what the opposite of darkness is - it says it in a roundabout way. The opposite of darkness is the love of our Father. That comforts me like nothing else does.

Sure love you, Elder Baird ♥️ Sending love from me and your Grandpa!!  We love you very much.
