More Than Half Way There (April 19, 2021)

Well it's official and if you didn't know by know, I will be returning to Lima Perú 🇵🇪 the 30th of April. ¡Que emocionante!

I'm am very very excited to go back I know I had doubts before but I know that this opportunity is here so it's time to seize the day.
Plus, for some reason I'm not as in love with this city of New York as some others may be.

I do realize that I'm not the best at emailing everyweek and I put some thought into it, and what I think I'll try to start doing is shorter emails with more pictures. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words.

I'm district leader in Olmstead Bronx and so I decided that today for our Preparation Day, we would go as a District to Orchard Beach and play Ultimate Frisbee.
The beach proved to be fantastic and it was a wake up experience when I was practically dying after 2 minutes of running during Frisbee. Almost a year of mission quarantine will do that to you.

I have a new companion named Elder Perkins from Pennsylvania, he's been out for about 7 months. When I first met him I thought, "Alright so I've been out for just a bit longer than you" but now I realize that I've been doing this mission thing for about 16 months now! How crazy is that?? I thought I would've cut out a while ago with all the weird things that have happened on my mission this far and yet, here I am.

I think that's an interesting perspective. "It might not have been what I expected, but it happened, and I'm still here now."
Those words seem to ring in my ears every time I think of the past year and a halfish.

I think it's also a useful mantra for those of us mortals who experience real life.

I can't help but think of the one song,
"Jesus Take the Wheel" whenever I try to plan something now, knowing that I'll try and try to make my life a certain way, but more often times then not, I end of giving control over to the one that can actually see the road. In my book, that's a pretty good compromise.

I know that it's maybe not everything you hoped for, but I hope this email finds you in good spirits, and I'll start writing more often. Til then, hasta ver.
